This type of technology will soon be found in gym facilities so that people can indicate what part of their body they need to work out more in depth. Also, I can see this technology becoming popular in the professional leave so that athletes can study their weight gain and the area they can exercise more to improve their skills.

Zebra tech coming to NFL

One day, in the not-so-distant future, quarterbacks attending the NFL combine may not step onto the field to throw. Instead, they’ll step into a simulator to test their ability to read defenses.

“It will be a ‘Madden’-like video game,” said New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, who has discussed the concept with Zebra Technologies, the company that this past season tracked players during games. “The Air Force trains their pilots in these simulators; you can train a quarterback.”

Giuliano's Comment: I can see this technology coming to the professional level. The NFL is not all about practice. There is a lot of studying going on between coaches and players about new plays, and other teams strategies.  If Zebra can create the technology so that players virtual see another teams movement on the screen rather than the field it can limit distractions. The simulator will allow athletes to pause in the middle of a play to study what movements needs to occur. Not only will this device be used for players, but coaches can use it to keep track of players work loud on the field. Zebra technology is a great new partner for the NFL.

Wearable Airbag for Skiers

Wearable Airbag Could Save Skiers Lives—If They Would Just Wear It

By: John Wenz
A skiing airbag could prevent deadly injuries on the slopes, but it may be a while before professional skiers warm to them, the Federation International de Ski says.
Giuliano's Comment: During the past 10 years over 40 people have died skiing on the slops, and their are over 500 serious injuries each year on the mountains from extreme skiing. With statistics like that skiers still refuse to adapt to the idea of wearing a ski airbag to prevent injury. FIS have been improving the airbag vest since 2011. However, professional skier complain that the safety device adds weight. I mean is more weight more important than risking your life. The ski airbag uses internal sensors, and a GPS system to sense when a skier is toppling, which deploys the airbag if speed and angle suddenly change.  I think this is a great new technology  that will keep people safe, and prevent serious injury. I mean if I was not a professional I would consider this as a requirement to wear when going down a huge mountain.

Heddoko App

Giuliano's Comment: Heddoko is a new physical tracker of wearable technology. It is a Bluetooth device that tracks your movement in 3D on your smart phone. All you have to do is download the app. However, the app consist of only physical activities such as golf, youa, and cross-training. Although, the advancement in sport technology I believe this company will expand on the different types of sports usage for this device. The smart clothing has sensors to measure your upper and lower arm, upper and lower legs, chest, back, and stomach. The app helps track your performance, and warns you if you are doing the exercise with a wrong movement. I like the device because it help you position yourself to get the maximum workout in a safe way. Technology like this is advancing in the sport industry everyday to prevent future injuries.

Concussions, unfortunately, are a very common part of sports today. Athletes sustain an estimated 3.8 million concussions every year. Many parents are worried about the safety of their children while they play sports, and immediately want to know if and when they sustain a concussion. That is why Eric Luster founded “Movement Interactive,” and came up with the idea for the Hiji Band.

Giuliano's Comment: I think this is a great new device to use in youth sport and in professional level. Many youth athletes play in the game while having a concussion without knowing. Having a concussion at a young age is dangerous, because it can effect your brain development growing up. Parent's today are nervous to have their child play at a young again because of the risk of injury, and brain injury is the worst. The Hiji band can be used in youth football, ice hockey, lacrosse, and basketball. Maybe one day the device can be used in the professional leagues. Sport need to find a way to reduce the concussions rate, and this is a start.
