Concussions, unfortunately, are a very common part of sports today. Athletes sustain an estimated 3.8 million concussions every year. Many parents are worried about the safety of their children while they play sports, and immediately want to know if and when they sustain a concussion. That is why Eric Luster founded “Movement Interactive,” and came up with the idea for the Hiji Band.
Giuliano's Comment: I think this is a great new device to use in youth sport and in professional level. Many youth athletes play in the game while having a concussion without knowing. Having a concussion at a young age is dangerous, because it can effect your brain development growing up. Parent's today are nervous to have their child play at a young again because of the risk of injury, and brain injury is the worst. The Hiji band can be used in youth football, ice hockey, lacrosse, and basketball. Maybe one day the device can be used in the professional leagues. Sport need to find a way to reduce the concussions rate, and this is a start.
