Zebra tracking tech coming to NFL combine
Published February 16, 2015“It will be a ‘Madden’-like video game,” said New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, who has discussed the concept with Zebra Technologies, the company that this past season tracked players during games. “The Air Force trains their pilots in these simulators; you can train a quarterback.”
Giuliano's Comment: I can see this technology coming to the professional level. The NFL is not all about practice. There is a lot of studying going on between coaches and players about new plays, and other teams strategies. If Zebra can create the technology so that players virtual see another teams movement on the screen rather than the field it can limit distractions. The simulator will allow athletes to pause in the middle of a play to study what movements needs to occur. Not only will this device be used for players, but coaches can use it to keep track of players work loud on the field. Zebra technology is a great new partner for the NFL.
